Zen art does not try to create the illusion of reality. It abandons true to life perspective, and works with artificial space relations which make one think beyond reality into the essence of reality. This concept of essence as opposed to illusion is basic to Zen art in all phases. The book was the famous Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, by Robert Pirsig. The enigmatic title is probably influenced by the Zen text-book Zen in the Art of Archery by Eugen Nerrigel, but the book has little to do with Zen, and is not very informative about motorcycle maintenance, either.

x “Zen and the Art of Early Childhood Education” is the title of Richard’s upcoming book and is also the name of the online communities of tens of thousands of early childhood professionals and parents who receive his free, daily messages of inspiration, education .   And, if you have found your own Zen, then you can use mind control on them. When the captain comes in the cockpit late, teaching you swear words you hadn’t thought to put together before, simply smile as you call the flight attendants and ask that they bring the captain some coffee. Use your Zen to shield against the negativity.

The success of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance seems the result of this culture-bearing phenomenon. The involuntary shock treatment described here is against the law today. It is a violation of human liberty. The culture has changed. The book also appeared at a time of cultural upheaval on the matter of material success. Excerpts: Zen and the Art of Happiness Book cover of Zen and the Art of Happiness If you stay in control of your imagination, it’s impossible to feel fear or stress.
